Hilary Swank and Ruben Torres 

Oscar winner Hilary Swank didn’t have to say that her engagement to tennis instructor Ruben Torres was off. In 2016, social media can do that for you!

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard 

The surprising split of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard just before Memorial Day and after the death of his mother quickly turned into a PR nightmare for the Pirates of the Caribbean star. Heard quickly sought a restraining order against Depp, who, she alleged in court documents, verbally and physically abused Heard throughout their 15-month marriage. In response, Depp replied with a statement through his rep: “Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life. Jason Derulo and Daphne Joy 

After going through a bad breakup with Jordin Sparks in 2014, Jason Derulo told Billboard magazine that it would take “a miracle” for him to get back into another relationship. But in November 2015, the “Want You to Want Me” singer found love again with model Daphne Joy. Six months later, it was over. While there aren’t any details as to why they split, Derulo told People in March that he loved Joy’s “understated personality. Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne

Aisha Tyler isn’t the only host of The Talk to endure a split in 2016. News broke in May that the 33-year marriage of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne was coming to an end. Paris Hilton once called boyfriend Thomas Gross her “soulmate,” but that was last year. In late April 2016, both TMZ and Us Weekly reported that Hilton’s year-long relationship had ended. The Talk’s Aisha Tyler and her college sweetheart, lawyer Jeff Tietjens, are no more. He filed for divorce in April 2016, following a legal separation in January 2015. Following the announcement, Tyler — who had previously talked openly about their struggles to conceive a child — attempted to address the split on her show. "It’s very hard when you love someone very much [but] also start to realize that maybe you want different things for your lives,” she said. “You don’t want to accept it and you don’t want to believe it.
