Man Who Hanged Son On A Tree

Two-year-old Michael Donkor who was declared missing after his father, Samuel Kwodwo Dankwa, allegedly killed two of his siblings at New Bortianor near Weija in Accra, has been found dead on a tree.
Little Michael’s decomposed body was seen dangling on a Neem tree near SSNIT Flats, New Bortianor, on Wednesday evening.
It is believed that Kwadwo Dankwa might have killed his own son by hanging his body on the tree after earlier succeeding in killing his two step-children and dumping their bodies in a bush near the Shoprite supermarket in the area on June 26, 2012.
Confirming the incident to Daily Guide, Kwasi Kwarteng, Weija District Crime Officer, said around 12:30pm on Wednesday evening, the Weija Police received information from a hunter that a two-year-old boy had been discovered dead on a tree. “When we proceeded to the scene, we saw the body tied to a rope hanging on a Neem Tree. The body was in complete state of decomposition. “We took the body to the Police Hospital morgue for preservation while Rebecca Acquah, mother of the dead children, was invited to identify the body,” the police chief added.
He said they later discovered that the deceased was little Michael Donkor, alias Uncle Joe, the child who was declared missing after his siblings were found dead. Police preliminary investigation revealed that the father might have killed the boy and hanged him on the tree since the two-year-old could not commit suicide on such a tree.
Kwadwo Dankwa, a 36-year-old mason, allegedly killed Evans Abban, 7, and Dorothy Abban, 4, at new Bortianor following a misunderstanding between him and his wife, Rebecca Acquah, over housekeeping money.
He later dumped the bodies near Shoprite and absconded with Michael Donkor. ASP Kwarteng said the bodies of the three children have been kept at the Police Hospital morgue for preservation while police continued to hunt the suspect.
Meanwhile, the mother of the children, Rebecca Acquah, 30, told Daily Guide that the husband attempted to stab her when she refused to serve him food.
“On June 22, 2012, when my husband was leaving for work, he gave me GH¢7 to prepare food. Since the money was not enough to prepare food for a family of six, I took GH¢4 out of the money to buy food for the children.
When my husband came to the house without getting sometime to eat, he got furious and threatened to butcher me with a machete. Following his threat, I left the house for my father’s house at Bawjiasi in the Central Region. A week later, I came to discover that my two children had been killed by their step-father,” she narrated.
