Babylonia Aivaz thought she had found true love when she married a warehouse in January.
But tragically, her 107-year-old Seattle-based spouse was demolished shortly afterwards.
Happily, the lonely widow has found a new object for her affections - the surrounding neighbourhood.
Ms Aivaz was mocked by the world when she declared her intention to wed the condemned Capitol Hill warehouse earlier this year.
After the building was knocked down, all went quiet, but yesterday the activist stormed in a council meeting brandishing a brick - all that was left of her last spouse, she said.
She informed the Seattle City Council she will is engaged to the Yesler Terrace neighbourhood near the Central District. The impending neighborhood marriage is statement against gentrification.
Ms Aivaz said she did not have time to wait for the public comment period on the changes.
She arrived at the gated area where members were seated and invited them to her wedding by passing out flowers, and then yelled that housing should be for people, not for profit.
'This is the only thing I have left from the last building I married,' she said as she held up a brick from the 10th and Union Warehouse. 'I cannot let it happen again.'
