The Sokoto state government has announced that it will spend the
astonishing sum of N772million on building a new concrete fence.
Commissioner
for Information, Malam Danladi Bako for Sokoto State disclosed this
while briefing journalists on the outcome of the state executive council
meeting.
He said the approval for the new perimeter fence at the government house was necessitated for security and other reasons.
The
commissioner noted that the present fence is too low and that it has
suffered a lot of degradation for close to 30 years of its construction.
Bako
asserted that it required renovation, adding the whole wall right from
all the perimeter of government house is going to all come down and
replaced by recast walls.
He said the work would include “increase
in the height of the concrete walls and expansion to include the new
buildings that were acquired by government and to replace a lot of all
the damage parts.”
The commissioner added that it would also
include the provision of two high quality furnished car parks on each
side of the main entrance to the government house in the construction
period is four months.
