In 7 Months Over 1000 Nigerians Die On Our Roads - FRSC Boss

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) said Thursday that more than 1,000 Nigerians died in road accidents between March and September this year.
The Corps Marshal, Osita Chidoka, said this in Birnin Kebbi at a one-day sensitisation campaign on speed limit device.
Nigeria has one of the world’s highest rate of road accidents and the figures announced by the FRSC are believed to be higher with many cases unreported.
Mr Chidoka said that statistics indicated that 65 percent of the road accidents recorded during the period under review were caused by speed.
He was represented at the occasion by Alfred Adeboye, an Assistant Corps Marshal, in charge of zone 10.
The zone comprises Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states. Mr Chidoka said that the device was installed by the commission to minimise carnage on the roads.
Daniel Sayi, the Sector Commander in charge of the state, said speed limit device would be installed by road safety officials on vehicles for effective monitoring of drivers.
