2015 has been an eventful year for Nigeria and also for the entertainment industry. While some personalities had cheering news, a good number for the wrong reasons and not so good wrong reasons made news said to be controversial.
Skiibi Faked His Own Death
Skiibi is a relatively unknown artiste from 5 Star Music seeking fame and relevance in the music industry; it’s not so easy trying to compete with the multitude of talents out there. It is even worse when you are a rising artiste but really, did you have to joke with death to grab attention? Like common! It was sad news to hear of the death of 5 Star Music act Skiibi, but even more shocking when we heard it was just a publicity stunt. News suddenly filtered into the social media that Skiibi, who is label mate with Kcee and Harrysong, slumped and died with pictures to show. In a short while, members in the industry started condoling his group and family not knowing that it was a publicity stunt meant to make his name more popular.
Timaya and Rape Scandal
A rape scandal trailed Egberi Number One Papa of Bayelsa, Timaya. A United States based lady by the name of Shella accused the singer of rape. Did Timaya go a bit too far with his love for bum bums? He defended himself that it was mutual sex but Shella kept shouting foul and even released some medical and police report to back up her claims. Whether true or false, one thing is for sure, Timaya got bad publicity for the rape scandal. In the past, he had had a messy fight with his former lover, Empress Njama.
Toke Makinwa And Maje Ayida Breakup
Popular blogger, Toke Makinwa and her fitness instructor husband, Maje Ayida might have kissed and settled the differences between them but it doesn’t mean we weren’t all shocked when we heard that their match which seemed to be made in heaven wasn’t so perfect. Maje scored a goal but it was an away match and Toke wasn’t so pleased with that. Following Maje impregnating his ex-girlfriend, media personality, Toke moved out of their matrimonial home and they remained separated for a number of months before making up again. We are glad that ended well.
2Face Cozes With Pero Adeniyi
This was one of the earliest scandals that kicked off the New Year as in early January. Legendary Nigerian singer, 2 Face was caught kissing his baby mama, Pero. Kissing one’s baby mama seems perfectly normal until you add the part that 2 Face is married to Annie Idibia and Pero is the mother of three of his seven children. The kissing scandal also comes shortly after Annie said in an interview that she wishes she is the mother of all his children.
Rapper 2Shotz And Wife Battery Saga
When former Big Brother Africa contestant, Beverly Osu accused her ex-boyfriend, 2Shotz of domestic abuse back in 2013, his wife Precious was quick to defend him so it came as a huge shock when Precious accused the rapper of the same thing in 2015. We were all left stunned when Precious washed the dirty laundry of their marriage in public saying she footed the bills of their marriage. Despite that her husband hit as well as abused her constantly. Weeks after his estranged wife’s disclosure, 2Shotz responded to the story. In an Instagram post on December 21, he addressed the story. 2Shotz shared a picture of him at the beach and captioned the picture “I leave everything for God, time will tell the truth ………merry Christmas..love and peace out.”
Davido and His Baby Mamma Saga
After several denials from his media team and close buddies, pop singer, Davido in May 2015, has finally acknowledged his daughter from baby mama, Sophie Momodu. In a tweet dated, Wednesday, May 27, 2015, the singer confirms the arrival of his daughter as he wraps up production for his sophomore album.
‘Album classic!!!! Word to my daughter!!!’ the singer tweeted. It was later disclosed that attempts were made by the Skelewu singer to pay-off the mother of his child a small fortune for sole custody. The ‘Gobe’ crooner in support of some of his family members offered Sophie millions of naira to grant them the sole custody of the newly born baby and move on with her life; an offer we learnt Sophie gladly declined.
According to an insider, “Sophie already had her game plan in place. She intends to use their newly born baby, Imade as a bait to lure Davido to marry her but Davido bluntly dashed her hope; stating that he is a young guy that has a lot going for him at the moment and his paramount objective for now is to take his blossoming career to the next level,” the . disclosed. However, as the crisis deepened, we learnt the Adeleke and Momodu’s family reportedly waded into the matter and reached compromise that Davido and Sophie should let sleeping dogs lie and let the baby grow to some certain age before they start fight for custody
