1981:-
Whitney Houston (seen here in her senior yearbook photo from Mount St. Dominic Academy in Caldwell, NJ) was born in Newark, NJ to a family of prominent soul and gospel singers, including mom Cissy Houston and her aunt Dionne Warwick. Before she was discovered by Clive Davis at age 20 in an NYC nightclub, she also found work as a model.
So sad,God knows best.RIP
Then just 20, Houston sang her heart out at NYC club Limelight. Clive Davis, founder and then-CEO of Arista Records, discovered Houston and quickly gave her a record deal, mentoring her until her death. Her first number one hit? "Saving All My Love For You." "Whitney was a beautiful person and she had a talent beyond compare," Davis said at a tearful pre-Grammys bash hours after she died.
