The Deputy Director of Publicity of
the State Security Services (SSS), Mrs Marylyn Ogar has blamed last
Monday’s suicide bomb attack at a luxurious bus park in Kano on
Nigerians for relaxing about their security with the improved security
in the region.
She
made the remark while responding to questions on whether there has been
a lull in the performance of security operatives in the northern part
of the country with the return of daily attacks in Kano in the last few
days.
Mrs Ogar stated that there wasn’t a lull, but “maybe
Nigerians became too relaxed because there was a little bit of respite”,
referring to recent arrest and onslaught the security forces made on
hideouts of the sect members.
She claimed the operatives have
being able to take out the leadership of the fundamentalist sect and
that it is some loose cannons of the sect who are trying to “find their
feet” that are staging these new attacks.
Almost a hundred lives
were lost in the suicide bomb attack on the luxurious bus park of the
commercial city and a host of other attacks against security officials
have been recorded in the last two days.
