After
the First Lady Patience Jonathan’s Women Event in Abuja on Thursday,
August 15, 2013, there came another one, which included the alleged
gift-sharing and worries over money.
The
festival called "Celebrating Nigerian Women for peace and Empowerment"
has paralysed Abuja, locked the Federal Capital territory down for most
of the day.
The delegates from the 36 states were taken to Abuja by busses, and the coordinators were allegedly handed various gifts as a reward for taking part in the event.
The
gifts were handed over to the delegates mostly led to Abuja by wives of
PDP State Governors. As shown in these photographs, the gift items
included deep fryers. Some of the delegates were apprehensive as money
promised them which they were to receive through their state
coordinators and their leaders was delayed until Friday morning. Most of
the women therefore left Abuja city much later than they had planned.
Some of the leaders of the women were seen making phone calls to their
coordinators as they waited to get the money promised them, looking very
worried.
