Reports from Jalingo says that the Taraba state
governor, Danbaba Suntai has dissolved the state executive council. All
special advisers also have been seen off the premises; special
assistants' positions, however, remain intact.
Also,
Governor Suntai, whose actions now are heavily scrutinized by the
general public and his fellow politicians, has endorsed the appointments
of Mr. Timothy Katap as the new Secretary to State Government (SSG),
and Mallam Aminu Jika as the new Chief of Staff.
This is the
second time that Mr. Jika is being appointed as the Chief of Staff to
Mr. Suntai. He was first appointed when Mr. Suntai took office in 2007.
All
commissioners have been directed to hand over to their respective
permanent secretaries while the special advisers are to hand over to the
Government House.
UPDATE: According to
the New-York-based newspaper Saharareporters, the "bizarre announcement"
was hatched by Mrs. Hauwa Suntai, the wife of Mr. Suntai, who is
"illegally occupying the government house" and uses her ailing husband
as "a shield".
A source in the camp of the Acting governor, Alhaji
Garba Umar, revealed to Saharareporters that the cabinet dissolution by
Mr. Suntai's wife carries "no effect".
Residents were "urged to disregard the purported dissolution of the cabinet and go about their normal duties."
The
acting governor and several commissioners, including security chiefs
in the state, attended a meeting where they planned to adequately
respond to the ruse, the source stated.
