between two defenders deep in the box on a counter when Andre Schuerrle
spots him from the left side and serves a pretty pass. "Super Mario"
settles the ball off his chest and volleys it into the net. Goal,

wins the World Cup inside the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janerio, after
32 days, 63 games, 170 goals, 10 red cards and 120 minutes of an
enthralling final contest watched by German by German Chancellor, Angela
Dorothea Merkel, Brazil's President, Dilma Rousseff,Argentine
President, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, Russia's Putin and host of
other heads of state.
The two sides were tied at 0-0 as the third successive World Cup final went into extra-time on Sunday.
The
best chance of the second-half fell to Messi in the 45th minute but the
Barcelona star scuffed his shot and it went wide of the far post.

German keeper, Manuel Neuer, won the best goalkeeper and James Rodriguez
of Colombia won the golden boot.
